Procedures for returning
1)Closing your Bank Account
Take your account book and cash card to your bank office and close your bank account.
2)Cancelling Cell Phone
Bring your Cell phone to a shop of your cell phone company and cancel the service. It might take about one hour to complete the procedures.
3)Notify your local municipal / ward office of your moving out
Submit a “notification of moving out” at the ward office when departing Japan.
4)Cancelling your National Health Insurance
Take your health insurance card to your local municipal / ward office and cancel your national health insurance. Be sure to pay any outstanding insurance fees.
5)Withdraw your National Persion(NP)
Withdraw your NP at your local municipal / word office.
*You may claim Lump-Sum Withdrawal Payments within 2 years after the date you no longer have a registered address in Japan and you are no longer covered by the NP:
- if you are non-Japanese.
- if you have six months or more of coverage period under the NP.

6)Residence Card
Hand in your residence card to the Immigration Officer at the airport upon your departure.
If you are planning on re-entering, you do not need to return the residence card.
