ID Card, Academic Records and Certificates

Hokkaido University issues a variety of certifications and documents on request. The available certificate differs depending on the student’s status. When you need certifications, ask at the Academic Affairs Section at your faculty / graduate school.
It will take about two days to issue a certification written in Japanese and about a week for English.

*1 Your faculty / graduate school will issue you a student card (ID) when you enroll as a new incoming student.
If your ID card is lost or stolen, please report this to your faculty / graduate school.
*2 If you are planning to commute by public transportation and willing to purchase a student commuting pass at a discount rate, you need a “Certificate of Commuting.” Student IDs with a special sticker on the back can be a substitute for the certificate of commuting (All information on the sticker must be filled out). In addition to regular students, research students are also eligible for Sapporo City Transportation by submitting a “Certificate of Commuting”.
Please note that Hokkaido University bans students from commuting by car or motorbike.

ACM (Automatic Certificate Machine)

Some certifications for regular students are issued from ACM (Automatic Certificate Machine).

1) Certifications available at the ACM

  1. Certificate of University Registration
  2. Transcript
  3. Certificate of Expected Graduation
  4. Certification for Student Trip Fare Reduction (valid for 3 months)
  5. Health Certificate
  • Up to 4copies for 1)~3),5copies for 4) and 5) can be issued per day.
  • 1)~3) Both Japanese and English certificates are available. 4) Only Japanese certifiacate is available. 5) Both Japanese and English certificates are available.
  • Only final academic year of students are eligible for Certificate of Expected Graduation.
  • The health certificate can only be issued to those who have taken all items in the physical checkup.

3)Operation hours : 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Service suspended during weekends, National holidays, Year-end and New Year holidays Service unavailable for maintenance at the beginning of semester (March and September) Operation hours can be subject to change. Please check the notification posted on a bulletion board or ELMS.
